This bayonet was originally manufactured as a Model 1905 bayonet by Springfield Armory to fit the Springfield 1903 rifle. Date of manufacture 1908. The bayonet was re-fitted in 1943 to a Model 1905 E1 by the Union Fork and Hoe co. The blade has been shortened (fuller runs out to tip) and the original wooden grips replaced with ribbed plastic. A new WW2 pattern fibreglass M7 scabbard has been fitted to match the shorter length.
