The last of the Stens and more upmarket in terms of wooden butt and pistol grip, front sight protected by same protective ears of the number 4 Mk I rifle and taking the same spike or blade bayonet. Used by the paratroopers in the Battle of Arnhem the Mk V became the standard SMG of the British army until replaced by the Sterling.
