The Bodeo Model 1889 revolver ((Italian) Pistola Rotazione, Systema Bodeo, Modello 1889) was invented by Italian firearm designer Carlo Bodeo (Query?). It was produced by a wide variety of manufacturers between 1889 and 1925, and was also produced in Spain from 1915 to 1918. It was employed by the Italian Army in World War I, the Interwar Italian colonial wars, and World War II. Adopted by the Italian Army in 1889 its name came from Sgr Bodeo, head of the commission which specified that a hammer block be incorporated in the design to prevent accidental discharge. The holding trigger version was issued to troops. Officers got the more up market version with normal trigger and guard. (See 92)
