Redesign of Bertier 1890/92 carbine (See FTA 130) to accept a five round charger in an extended magazine. After the design was developed in 1915 some weapons were converted, others like this example were made new to the updated design. This weapon has also undergone the 1927 adaptations to the fore-end. Continsouza was a civilian manufacturer who produced receivers for the M-16, these were assembled by MA S MA C etc but the assembly and date marks are covered by the top handguard.
