In 1924 the Czech government introduced a service rifle based on a shortened version of the Mauser-action Gewehr 98. This was the Model 24. This weapon was made in large numbers both for use in Czech armed forces and also for export. It was popular and considered to be of high manufacture quality. After the annexation of Czechoslovakia by Germany production continued for use by German forces and other Axis powers. This example has a TR serial, indicating Czech occupation period manufacture for issue to Roumanian armed forces.
