This Springfield made Rifle has a Mauser style bolt and 5 round clip fed magazine. A very reliable and accurate weapon it was the standard rifle of the US army until replaced by the self-loading Garand. The Springfield was still in use during the Korean War as a Sniper rifle. Serial no suggests this weapon was manufactured in 1918, however barrel stamp shows a re-furbishment/rebarrelling in 1942. Chinese characters on butt suggest export use.
