Ethan Allen started with walking stick guns and progressed to single shot muzzle loaded pistols. By 1848 he was producing a multi barrel ‘Pepper Box’ pistol which became very popular, especially in the 1849 gold rush in California. Working with his brother-in-law Thomas Wheelock he then developed an excellent Percussion single barrel six shot revolver with very unique features. Both sides of the American Civil War had a high regard for the Allen & Wheelock revolver but it was over shadowed by the Colt and Remington revolvers. The company started by Allen had various owners over the years finally being taken over by Marlin in 1915. A rare piece of US history this revolver is an antique and has not been deactivated.
