Italian? Reproduction of 1853 Pattern Enfield Rifle. A key weapon in the history of the Enfield Factory and in UK arms manufacture. Issued to the British Army in 1853 its Percussion system was more reliable and accurate than the Flintlock Brown Bess. Using the American machinery bought to allow mass production the Enfield Small Arms Factory sold thousands of rifles to both sides in the American Civil War, as wellas arming the British army in the 1850s and after.
