Both the Spanish and Chinese produced copies of the C/96 and by slight alteration to the trigger mechanism converted the weapon to fire fully automatic. Mauser reacted by producing its own model in 1930. This was improved with the Westinger System produced in 1936. This weapon like many was made for Chinese export, hence characters on L side of mag.
