Bayonet for Steyr S1-100 MP34 submachine gun. (See FTA 219) Manufactured by Simson and Co. of Suhl, Germany. The company was Jewish and so was taken over and re-named in 1939 so a pre-war manufacturing date for this weapon is possible. First batch of SMGs for Portugal was made in 1938, and it is suggested by several sources that these bayonets (including this example) were mostly made for export to Portugal. No Waffenamt stamps are apparent suggesting German use.
