Based on the Swedish Eklund-Ljungmann AG 42 the Hakim was manufactured under licence in Egypt for their army from the early 1950s onwards. It fired a 7.92 mm mauser round and had a 10 round detachable magazine. With a most unusual method of loading and an ungainly design this rifle was also heavy. Replaced by the lighter Soviet SKS and AK 47.
