The last bolt action rifle to be adopted by a European power. The weapon is designed to chamber the 7.5mm replacement for the outdated 8mm Lebel round. However in WW2 many troops were still issued with carbine versions of Berthier/Lebel weapons. Integral bayonet is stored in a tube below the barrel
