The 1862 Police revolver was designed by Colt in response to civilian demand for pocket pistols. Colt made scaled-down versions of its 1851 Navy and 1860 Army revolvers, both chambered in .36 caliber. The redesign of the 1860 Army Colt revolver yielded the 1862 Police single action, with a fluted cylinder. This example is a modern copy made by Uberti, a specialist manufactuer of reproduction cap and ball weapons
