Description

Martini Henry MkIII rifle manufactured in 1879, subseqently converted to a .303 Martini Enfield Carbine in 1894, by the replacement of the barrel. Probably subsequently used for drill purposes by cadets hence 'Not for Ball' stamp on breech Bayonet fitting changed to accept Lee Metford 1888 Knife Bayonet.
