Named after its maker, the London Gunsmith Ezekiel Baker, was issued to the new British Rifle Regiments during the Napoleonic Wars. This rifle had a one quarter turn in its 30 in barrel which greatly increased the accuracy and range. Although slower to load than the Brown Bess - 3 shots in 2 minutes - most riflemen could hit a man at 100 metres. A marksman could score at 275 metres.
