Designed by Louis Schmeisser it is an unusual design in that when slide was cranked the major front part laid on top of the fixed barrel. The smaller rear section of slide formed the breech block - lying behind the barrel enclosed by slab-sided casings at rear of frame. Used by German army during World War One. This example has pre-war proof marks and early type text, but also arabic stampings suggesting export (to Turkey?) Also has no trademark cut into wood grips
