Biography:

1. Evan Jones was employed as a Labourer earning 1/6d per day "setting and drawing stoves and in the boats as well as planting willows." (Supply 5/214 dated the 3rd March 1790). 2. A letter to the Rex Officers at Waltham Abbey from the Comptroller, William Congreve, requested that Evan Jones be sent to the Royal Laboratory, and that the bearer of the letter, Phillip Sherren, be "entered as a Labourer in his place" (WASC 475).
