Biography:
1. William Alexander was first employed by the Board on the 21st May 1815 as a casual Labourer in the Engineers' Department. He earned 2/8d per day, and was a 37-year-old bachelor living in Waltham Abbey (WO54/516 dated the 19th February 1816).
