Biography:

1. William Chaplin, according to the Return of Employees dated the 1st October 1839 (WO54/623) was to be employed as a general Labourer on the 2nd October 1839, in place of Charles Horam who had been discharged. He was to be paid of £39 per annum, which included an allowance to watch in turn.
