(List of Employees dated the 29th August 1812 (Supply 5/229). 2. WO54/516 dated the 19th February 1816, indicated that William was now employed as a casual Labourer earning 2/8d per day in the Engineers' Department, having started in that capacity on the 12th September 1815. He was a 23-year-old married man living in Waltham Abbey, with 1 child.
